Crime Scene Chronicles: Unraveling Mysteries in the CSI Lab for 6th-9th

Crime Scene Chronicles: Unraveling Mysteries in the CSI Lab – incoming 6th to 9th graders

Get ready to become a detective and solve thrilling mysteries. Join us at Gale Ranch Middle School for an exciting journey into the world of forensic science. This class is exclusively for students entering 6th to 9th grade.

Step into the shoes of a Crime Scene Investigator and learn the tricks of the trade. Through hands-on activities and experiments, you’ll unravel mysteries, analyze evidence, and decode clues.

You will assume the role of crime scene investigator as you use your observational skills and deductive reasoning to solve a realistic crime scenario. You will attempt to identify a prime suspect from a pool of six alleged perpetrators using these traditional forensic techniques: evidence analysis (including blood typing), fingerprint processing, analysis of hair and tire prints, forensic entomology (with artificial fly larvae), and a police log review. You will learn how to read blood spatter (with simulated blood). Then create your own mock crime scene, and solve someone else’s. You will hone your critical thinking skills as you determine who committed the crime. You will take their case to court and be an expert witness, prosecutor or defense attorney, and jury. This class engages in the NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) for Scientific and Engineering Practices.

Don’t miss out on this thrilling adventure! Sign up now for Crime Scene Chronicles: Unraveling Mysteries in the CSI Lab. Get ready to put your detective skills to the test and become a master of forensic science!
